Book Review by Kaylene " Kushiel's Dart" by Jacqueline Carey

Fantasy novel, excellent world-building and real world parallels. World filled with nobles, courtesans and politics. Religion plays a big role in the story. Better than Game of Thrones. One of the main themes is "Love as thou wilt".

Book Review by Kaylene "Edible Art: tricks & tools for master centrepieces from carved vegetables" by Narahenapitage Sumith Pemalal De Costa

This book explains the different tools needed to carve decorations out of vegetables. There are many different designs. The art of food decoration originates from Sri Lanka, which is a culture rich in carvings of wood and brass.

Book Review by Kaylene: "Let the right one in" by John Ajvide Lindqvist

Story of two young children in Sweden who are alone and lonely and learn to become friends. It is a story about innocence and murder. There are different characters who are all linked and each chapter ends on a cliff hanger. The story is well-written and gripping right from the start. Leaves a lasting impression on the reader.

This is a bildungsroman about a young man who is a victim of circumstance. He has to leave college and doesn’t manage to find a job. He turns to a life of crime. The main theme is that good people can do bad things as a result of circumstance.
