Book Review by Kim: Gerard Sekoto - My life and work by Barbara Lindop

Lindop introduces us to the vibrant water-coloured life of Gerard Sekoto. By using a collection of his works, Lindop illustrates his journey from his birth in the Lutheran Mission Station to a young boy with a unique talent that would become recognized as one of the earliest South African modernist and social realist artist. Lindop explores Sekoto's life and times in the 1940's from Sophiatown to being exiled in Paris and how his identity as an African sustained him during the most difficult times.
